Day 1: Arrival Flight to Van.
Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight. (-/-/D)
Day 2- Van city tour
Van is a city in eastern Turkey's Van Province and is located on the eastern shore of Lake Van. We will sail to the island Akhtamar. Visit to the Armenian Cathedral which has a very unique structure. Our trip continues up to the monastery Varagavank (monastery of Varag) also known as seven churches. Varagavank was a prominent Armenian monastery whose ruins are located on the slopes of Mount Varag. Interesting trip and deep emotions. Dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 3- Van - Doğubayazıt – Ani - Kars
After the breakfast we will visit Doğubayazıt.It is a settlement with a long history. The trip continues to Ani. Ani is a ruined and uninhabited medieval Armenian city-site situated in the Turkish province of Kars. All the structures at Ani are constructed using the local volcanic basalt, a sort of tufa stone. It is easily carved and comes in a variety of vibrant colors, from creamy yellow, to rose-red, to jet black. Drive to Kars. Dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 4-Kars – Bavra – Gyumri
After the breakfast departure at the border between Turkey and Georgia Bavra.Our trip continues up to Gyumri. An enjoyable tour in Gyumri. Gyumri is the second largest city of Armenia. It suffered greatly during the earthquake in 1988. As an old town, Gyumri has a rich history and a unique style of architecture. Unfortunately, the city lost many of its historical and cultural buildings after the disastrous earthquake. Dinner and overnight in Gyumri. (B/L/D)
Day 5 -Gyumri - Ejmiatsin-Yerevan
After the breakfast tour will continue to Cathedral Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin, the spiritual and admin of the Armenian Church. Upon entering the city of Echmiadzin , you will see a 7th century church, where the shrine of St. Hripsime (3rd Century) and the relics of the other 40 martyred Hripsimian nuns lie. Next, visit the Main Cathedral. Visit to Zvartnoc Cattedral. Drive to Yerevan. Dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 6- Yerevan City tour
Breakfast. Excursion around Yerevan city. Visit Erebuni Fortress (782 BC). Ancient Yerevan was founded by King Argishti in 782 BC and named Erebuni. Visit to Manuscript museum, Matenadaran. Visit the ruins of the glorious 7th century Zvartnots. (B/L/D)
Day 7 -Yerevan – Garni – Geghard – Sevan – Dilijan
Breakfast. Visit to the Geghard Monastery (the name came from the legendary lance, that was used to pierce the body of Christ, which was kept here for centuries. Visit to the Garni, the Pagan Temple, built in the 1 Century AD. Then continue our tour to the Lake Sevan. Take a trip to Lake Sevan, one of the world’s largest high-altitude lakes. Visit to Sevanavank monastery. Then we will continue our tour to Dilijan. A walk through the city of Dilijan. Dinner and overnight in Dilijan. (B/L/D)
Day 8- Haghpat- Sanahin-Sadakhlo-Tbilisi
Breakfast. Take a trip to Sanahin Monastery (10-13cc.) ( A UNESCO World Heritage site). Visit Haghpat Monastery (10-13cc). Meet at the Sadakhlo border (13:00-14:00), coach and guide change and drive to Tbilisi. Evening excursion in Old city. Tour includes following sights: Metekhi Churchis, The colorful Darejani Palace, The Sulfur, The Orthodox Narikala, St. Nikolas Church, Narikala fortress. We can taste Georgian wine on Meidani Square, in the wine cellar. Visit Karvasla - a multi - storey building located in the district of Old Tbilisi. The fact that the Museum of History of Tbilisi is located at karvasla, makes that building more prestigious and charming. Finally, the tour takes you to Rustaveli Avenue, where attractions such as the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Parliament, Rustaveli Theatre, different art galleries and cafes will draw your attention and provide a cosmopolitan atmosphere.Dinner and overnight. Day 9:Tbilisi –Ananuri - Kazbegi-Tbilisi
After breakfast, drive to Kazbegi. On the way, we pass Ananuri Castle and Jinvali water reservoir of amazing beauty. En route stop and see different local hand made things (thick felt, embroidery, iconographic painting). A stunning drive from Gudauri along the Tergi River will bring us to Kazbegi – the main town in the region. From Kazbegi a leisurely 1.5 hour walk up through beautiful valleys and woodlands leads us to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2170m. Weather permitting you may catch a glimpse of one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – Mt Kazbegi (5047m). Then drive to Dariali Gorge, Georgian – Russian border. Overnight in Tbilisi. (NOTE: to drive to Dariali Gorge or Trinity Church we need 4X4 cars, and in case of the group travel, when group is travelling by bus, we can rent 4X4 cars on the spot and price is USD 15 per person to drive both sights). Day 10: Mtskheta tour
After breakfast, drive to Mtskheta (UNESCO Heritage Site), the ancient capital of Georgia - early kingdom of Iberia. Located at the crossing of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers and the ancient trade routes, it's clear, that Mtskheta is one of the most important attractions of Georgia. Tour includes following sights: Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, a life-giving pillar - Cathedral of 11th century - Magnificent, both inside and outside, the Cathedral is an important piece of Christian history, as it is a place where Christ’s robe was buried.Jvari Church– 6th century monastery- Jvari, or the Holy Cross Church, stands where a sacred wooden cross was erected in the 4th century by St Nino You can also have lunch there. Drive back Tbilisi and have dinnerat the restaurant, tasting Georgian traditional food. Overnight in Tbilisi. (B/L/D)
Day 11: Departure
