Ughtasar
Petroglyphs are quite common phenomena in the territory of Armenia, where can be found dozens of examples of them. They tell much about the ancient life and culture, old civilizations and people, their lifestyle, their beliefs and customs. Ughtasar Mountain in Armenia is one of the most prominent places to observe and investigate these petroglyphs. To get to them we should drive off-road vehicles. This mountain is nearly 17km away from the city of Sisian. The petroglyphs at Ughtasar are images carved onto black and grey volcanic stone, using stone tools. The petroglyphs at Ughtasar are rich with flora and fauna imagery, along with human and animal images, circles, spirals, dots, lines, and other geometric and abstract forms.
