Odzun

The monastery of Odzun is located in Odzun village near Alaverdi, in Lori district. The church dates back to the end of  6^th century. It is an unusual funerary monument of 5^th -6^th centuries with two sculpted pillars depicting biblical scenes and the Christianization of Armenia. Standing on a tiered base and constructed in polished stone in the form of two arcades, this monument has a delicate harmony of symmetry. The sculptures of Odzun church are remarkable samples of old Armenian religious art.
