      Day 2Yerevan /City Tour/

      Yerevan City Tour

      We start our journey in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan. For centuries, this fascinating city has been known as the ‘Pink City’, due to the color of the volcanic stones used in the construction of its buildings. Yerevan, with its long history and rich culture, is a perfect mix of tradition and modernity. During our visit, we will explore iconic places such as Republic Square, the beating heart of the city, Mashtots Avenue, the lively main street, the majestic Opera House named after the famous composer Aram Khachaturyan, the spectacular  Cascad Staircase that offers a panoramic view of the city, and many other hidden treasures.

      Matenadaran

      Afterwards we will visit the museum of manuscripts, the Matenadaran. Matenadaran means ‘book depository’ and is an outstanding scientific research institute dedicated to ancient manuscripts, where they are preserved and restored.” 

      Yoga Practice

      In the evening, you can do your first yoga practice. It will be a relaxing and rejuvenating session.

      Day 3Yerevan - Garni - Symphony of Stones - Geghard Monastery

      Departing to Garni, located about 30 km from Yerevan, we will visit this fascinating center of Hellenistic and Roman culture, an ancient residence of the Armenian rulers of the Arshakuni Dynasty. During the visit, we will explore the Temple dedicated to the Sun God, a wonderful example of Greek architecture dating back to the 1st century AD, known for its extraordinary beauty and historical significance. We will also see the remains of the wall dating back to the 3rd century BC, witnessing the greatness of Garni in the past, and the fascinating Roman Baths, offering a glimpse into the daily life of ancient Armenians. This trip will allow us to immerse ourselves in the rich history and culture of the region.”

      Symphony of Stones

      Garni Gorge is truly one of the most extraordinary places in Armenia, known for its natural beauty and unique geological formations. The “Basalt Organ” is a natural wonder that amazes with its extraordinary symmetry and basalt columns, which look just like the pipes of a musical organ, creating a fascinating landscape. The formation of this gorge dates back millions of years, and is the result of volcanic activity followed by erosion processes, which makes it not only a place of great beauty, but also of scientific interest. Visitors can admire not only the imposing basalt columns, but also the entire gorge, which offers spectacular views and unique photo opportunities.

      Geghard Monastery

      Continue to the Geghard Monastery (UNESCO World Heritage) named after the spear that pierced the body of Christ, located in a very spectacular deep canyon: half built inside the rock, it dates back, according to tradition, to the fourth century.

      Dinner at a local house with “Lavash” master class

      After visiting a local house where you can have the opportunity to see and participate in the preparation of Armenian bread Lavash (Lavash is an Armenian bread, very thin, usually sold in very large loaves. It is also an ancient bread baked in an underground oven ‘‘tonir’’). In 2015 Lavash was included in the UNESCO intangible heritage list.

      Day 4Mount Geghama - Sevan

      In the morning, we will take 4×4 jeeps to start our journey to the Geghama Mountains, a volcanic mountain range in the heart of Armenia. After about an hour of driving on scenic roads, we will reach an altitude of 3,000 meters, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. We will explore the famous Geghama Petroglyphs, extraordinary rock carvings that date back between 5,000 and 7,000 years. These ancient drawings, which tell the daily life, hunting and spiritual beliefs of prehistoric people, are among the most important examples of rock art in the entire region. With over 20,000 petroglyphs scattered throughout the area, the experience will be like a journey through time, in contact with primordial history and culture.

      Yoga Practice for 1.5 hours

      Return to Yerevan and be headed to Sevan Lake Sevan

      Departure to Lake Sevan, one of the largest and highest freshwater lakes in the world, located about 1,900 meters above sea level. Surrounded by majestic mountains, Lake Sevan is often called the “blue pearl” of Armenia for its breathtaking beauty and crystal-clear water that reflect the blue skies. Here, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a splendid panorama, admiring the contrast between the turquoise waters of the lake and the surrounding peaks. After admiring this wonderful landscape, we will head to the Sevan Peninsula, one of the most iconic areas of the lake. This peninsula, once an island before the water level of the lake dropped, is home to two ancient monasteries: Sevanavank, a historic monastic complex dating back to the 9th-10th centuries. The monasteries were founded by King Ashot I Bagratuni in 874, to become an important spiritual and cultural center of medieval Armenia. Finally, this place represents a point of connection between nature and spirituality, where the beauty of the landscape combines with the deep religious history of Armenia, making us live a memorable and contemplative experience.

      Overnight in Sevan

      Day 5Sevan - Selim - Yeghegis - Smbataberd - Yeghegis

      Selim Carvanserai

      Today we travel the ancient routes once used by travelers on the Great Silk Road. Our journey will take us to the Selim Caravanserai, a crucial stop for merchants, traders, and travelers throughout the centuries. Located in Armenia and built in 1332 by order of Prince Chesar Orbelian, this caravanserai is an important example of medieval architecture along the historic route between East and West. Strategically located along the Selim Pass (also known as the Vardenyats Pass), the caravanserai offered a safe haven for traders transporting valuable goods, such as silk, spices, and precious metals, from one end of the Eurasian continent to the other.

      Departure for Yeghegis / Smbataberd Fortress

      We begin our journey to the fortress of Smbataberd. We walk in silence, a conscious and intentional gesture, because observing silence is one of the most important and powerful practices of yoga. Silent walking is a form of active meditation, which allows us to connect deeply with ourselves and with the nature that surrounds us.

      Day 6Yeghegis - Karahunj - Tatev - Goris

      Visit Karahunj, also known as Zorakarer, is one of the most fascinating and mysterious archaeological sites in Armenia. This ancient monument is dated to over 3,500 years old, making it older than Stonehenge and about 3,000 years older than the Egyptian pyramids, which underlines its historical importance. According to numerous archaeologists who have studied the site, Karahunj was probably a highly developed astronomical observatory. Karahunj is not just an archaeological site, but a real journey through time.

      Tatev Monastery

      Continuing our journey, we head to the Tatev Monastery Complex, a site of extraordinary beauty and historical importance, dating back to the 9th-13th centuries. Tatev has been a famous center of learning and culture, as well as an important spiritual hub for Armenians. To reach the monastery, we will have the opportunity to use one of the longest zip lines in the world. The zip line, known as “Wings of Tatev”. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore the ancient churches and various monastic buildings, admiring the extraordinary architecture and artistic details that characterize this sacred place. This visit will be an unforgettable adventure between nature and spirituality.

      Day 7Goris - Shaki - Jermuk

      Departure for Shaki waterfall, located above the river of the same name. With a height of 18 meters, the waterfall is enchanting in every season of the year and always attracts nature lovers. It is considered one of the most beautiful places in Armenia, and some even consider it one of the seven wonders of the region. Its natural beauty and the force of the falling water create a fascinating spectacle, perfect for those seeking peace and connection with nature.

      Jermuk

      In addition, we will have the opportunity to admire one of the beautiful waterfalls of Armenia, which contributes to making this place even more fascinating. Jermuk is not only a destination for those seeking relaxation and spa treatments, but also for those who love nature and scenic wonders.

      Jermuk Hot Springs

      Taking 4×4 jeeps, we reach the famous thermal springs of Jermuk. In Jermuk, there are more than 20 thermal springs, some of which reach temperatures of 64 °C. These springs belong to the category of carbon-hydro-sulphate-sodium waters, which are known to be rich in beneficial minerals. The composition and therapeutic properties of these waters are similar to those of the famous springs in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. Due to their positive effects on health, the thermal springs of Jermuk attract visitors seeking well-being and relaxation.”

      Day 8Jermuk - Noravank - Khor Virap - Yerevan

      We set off for the Vayots Dzor region, crossing an 8 km long canyon that offers breathtaking views. During the journey, we will have the opportunity to visit the wonderful Noravank monastery complex, dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries. This historic monastery is spectacularly situated, perched on the edge of a precipice, and surrounded by towering red rock cliffs that create a stunning contrast with the blue sky. Noravank is famous not only for its fascinating architecture, but also for its cultural and spiritual significance. Visiting this enchanting place will allow us to immerse ourselves in Armenian history and appreciate the beauty of the surrounding nature.

      Visit Momik Winery – lunch with wine degustation

      During your visit to Momik Winery, you will discover the fascinating history of a family that has been passionate about growing and producing wines using the endemic Areni grape for over 40 years. This winery is an example of how the art of winemaking is passed down from generation to generation, with each family member bringing their own contribution and expertise to the process. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to learn how traditional techniques have been integrated with modern methods to create high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.

      Khor Virap Monastery

      Full day excursion in southern Armenia and then departure for the Ararat region to visit the Khor Virap Monastery, a famous pilgrimage site, also visited by Pope John Paul II. The Monastery stands on the site of the imprisonment of St. Gregory the Illuminator, who is responsible for the conversion of Armenia. Khor Virap means “deep ditch” where St. Gregory was also imprisoned; from the Monastery perched on the hill you can enjoy a splendid view of the biblical Mount Ararat.
