PILGRIMAGE ON TWO WHEELS

These types of tours are kind of new phenomenon in tourism industry of Armenia. It is because Armenia is a small land and besides that this is very specific tour for the people of specific interests. This unique pilgrimage to the Holy Shrines of renowned Armenian and Universal saints will give you the whole outline of Armenian Christianity starting from the very first ages AD up to nowadays. Nevertheless we consider motorcycle adventures as one on the most interesting ones and have covered up several intesting and stunning itineraries which enable the travellers to discover our beautiful land thoroughly riding through the most virgin nature. All is organized professionally and on a very high level.

  • DAY 1: ARRIVE (ca. 35 km) (BUS)
    Arrival at the “Zvartnots” Airport. Transport to the Hotel and Overnight.
  • DAY 2: YEREVAN - The “pink” capital (ca. 90 km) (BUS)
    We will start the tour with the tour in the capital of Armenia: Yerevan. For ages this city has been known as a “pink city” because of the color of the stone it has been built with. So we will visit Republic square, Mashtots Avenue, the House of Opera and Ballet after Aram Khachatryan, the park “Cascade”. Then we will visit the Manuscript Museum of Armenia, which is called Matenadaran; here all ancient Armenian Manuscripts are kept. The tour will be continued to the famous Yerevan Brandy Factory founded in 1887. During the International Exhibition in Paris in 1900, the Armenian brandy “Ararat” received the Grand-Prix and the legal right to be called ‘cognac’, not ‘brandy’. Familiarization with motorcycles in the garage. Welcome dinner in a traditional restaurant. Overnight in Yerevan. Breakfast/Dinner
  • DAY 3: YEREVAN- KHOR VIRAP- NORAVANK- KARAHUNJ – GORIS (ca. 290 km)
    Arrival at the garage and motorcycles pick-up. Taking direction to Khor Virap Monastery (4-18th cc.). This monastery is very prominent because of its history; Gregory the Illuminator, who introduced Christianity to Armenia, has been imprisoned there about 13 years as at that time there was a prison in the place of the monastery. Here we can enjoy the spectacular view of the sacred Ararat Mountain - an immortal symbol of Armenia. Lunch at a local family. Continue the trip to Noravank - a monastery of XII century situated among amazing sheer rocks on the bench of a twisty gorge. This is the only monastery where we may find a unique sculpture of Father God. In Noravank we will have a meeting with the priest who will tell you about the religious life and traditions of Armenia. We will explore the ancient observatory of Karahunj quite similar to Stonehenge in England. The columns sit like soldiers on a hill. The 204 stones near Sisian have been ascribed with mystical, fertility and cosmic powers, but rarely have ancient monuments caused such a sensation in astronomical circles. Overnight in Goris.   • DAY 4: GORIS- KHNDZORESK- TATEV- KAPAN (ca. 120 km)
    Visit the cave village of Khndzoresk. We will continue our trip visiting the monastic complex of Tatev. The complex was found within the ages of 9-13. Formerly it was a very famous educational center in Armenia and all famous contemporary scientists and philosophers were educated there. It used to accept students from abroad as well. Meeting with the priest in Tatev. Overnight in Kapan. Breakfast/Dinner
  • DAY 5: KAPAN- JERMUK (ca. 175 km)
    Our trip will take us at first to the Vahanavank Monastery. We will drive to Jermuk and visit the Jermuk waterfalls. Overnight in Jermuk. Breakfast/Dinner
  • DAY 6: JERMUK- NORADUS- SEVAN- DILIJAN (ca. 230 km)
    We will drive to Noradus. Here we will visit a cross stone craftsman. Drive to Lake Sevan and visit the Sevanavank Monastery. Meeting with the Priest in Sevan. Overnight in Dilijan. Breakfast/Dinner
  • DAY 7: DILIJAN- GOSHAVANK- HAGHARTSIN- DILIJAN (ca. 70 km)
    We will enjoy the Nature around Dilijan and the beautiful monasteries Goshavank and Haghartsin. Meeting with the Priest. Overnight in Dilijan. Breakfast/Dinner
  • DAY 8: DILIJAN- HAGHPAT- SANAHIN- RYA TAZA- YEREVAN (ca. 315 km)
    “Two amazing monasteries”- Haghpat and Sanahin. These two outstanding masterpieces of Armenian architecture have been founded in the Middle Ages. They have been important research centers and were famous for their manuscripts. Meeting with local people. Overnight in Yerevan. Breakfast/Lunch
  • DAY 9: YEREVAN- GARNI- GEGHARD-YEREVAN (ca. 110 km)
    Take trip to Garni. This Pagan Temple built in the 1st century AD. It is the only temple that has been preserves from the Pagan times in Armenia. It was devoted to the god Mihr, who was the god of cleanness. Then we will continue our trip to Geghard Monastery. Its name came from the legendary lance that was used to pierce the body of Christ. It has been kept here for centuries. Though the exact foundation of the monastery is unknown, the present complex was built in the mid – 13th century. Preparation of Armenian bread "Lavash". Visit the St. Sargis Church in Yerevan. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan. Breakfast/Dinner
  • DAY 10: YEREVAN- EJMIATSIN- ZVARTNOTS- YEREVAN (ca. 85 km)
    We will start the excursion to centuries-old monuments Ejmiatsin and Zvartnots. These sites are listed on UNESCO World Heritage list. Zvartnots Temple was built in 7th century by Nerses Builder Catholicos. Our next step is the spiritual center of Armenia: Ejmiatsin. The Cathedral of Ejmiatsin, founded in 303, is the official residence of the Catholicos of Armenia. Visit the Genocide Memorial “Tsitsernakaberd”. Overnight in Yerevan. Breakfast/Lunch
  • DAY 11: DEPARTURE (ca. 35 km) (BUS)
