Horse-Riding In The Wonderlands of Caucasus
The rich nature, climate, flora and fauna of Armenia create excellent conditions for riding adventures. Regardless you are a professional or an amateur you are going to enjoy your time and entertain yourself fully. If you are professional just be given to the freedom of Caucasian highlands, if you are a beginner, just give a try and you will repeat it again!
Day 1: Arrive in Tbilisi.
Arrive in Tbilisi. Meeting at the Airport. Transfer to the Airport. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 2: Mtskheta – Tbilisi Tour
Drive to Mtskheta (UNESCO Heritage), an ancient capital of the Georgian Kingdom from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD. Tour includes following sights: Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, a life-giving pillar - Cathedral of 11th century - magnificent, both inside and outside, the Cathedral is an important piece of Christian history, as it is a place, where Christ’s robe was buried. Jvari Church – 6th century monastery - Jvari, or the Holy Cross Church, stands where a sacred wooden cross was erected in the 4th century by St Nino before she converted Mtskheta to Christianity. Drive back to Tbilisi.
Have Tbilisi city tour. We will visit the Old Tbilisi Sulfur Baths, Georgian Orthodox and Armenian Gregorian churches, Jewish synagogue, also, Turkish mosque side by side, reflecting city’s acceptance and tolerance of different religions. We can also see a recent monument - Tbilisi Sameba Cathedral, the largest cathedral in the Caucasus. The tour includes following sights: Metekhi Church, which is erected on the cliff, overlooking the Mtkvari River. The Sulfur Baths are located in Old Tbilisi, on the other side of the river, opposite Darejani Palace. TheNarikala St. Nikolas Church is in the same district. The church is furnished with frescoed portraits of martyrs and scenes from the Bible. It is wrapped in a defensive Narikala fortress, established in the fourth century. At Leselidze Street, we come across the 13th century Armenian St. George Church and a Jewish synagoguewith an elegant facade. On the opposite side of the street is Sioni Church, leading to the bank of the Mtkvari River. Here you discover Shardeni Street with its fashionable cozy cafes and art galleries. Walking we will come across the Anchiskhati church, the oldest church in Tbilisi keeping the miraculous icon of Jesus Christ. Finally, the tour takes you to Rustaveli Avenue, where attractions, such as the Tbilisi Operaand Ballet Theatre, the Parliament, Rustaveli Theatre, different art galleries and cafes, will draw your attention and provide a cosmopolitan atmosphere.Overnight in Tbilisi hotel.
Day 3: Tbilisi – Borjomi – Tbilisi
Horse riding: approx.. 6-7 hours
After breakfast drive to Borjomi, where you can taste the Borjomi natural mineral water. Afterwards drive to the Borjomi – Kharagauli National park and have horse riding tour in the park. On the territory of Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park we offer one of the 9 horse riding trails, leading through the wildest and most charming places. In the noon have picnic lunch at the park and then continue your horse riding tour. Overnight in Tbilisi hotel.
Day 4: Tbilisi – Kazbegi – Tbilisi
Horse riding: approx.. 3.5-4 hours
After breakfast drive to Kazbegi. A stunning drive from Gudauri along the Tergi River will bring us to Kazbegi – the main town in the region. On the way, we visit Ananuri Castle and Jinvali water reservoir of amazing beauty. En route stop and see different local hand made things (thick felt, embroidery, iconographic painting). From Kazbegiwe ride horses to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2170m. Weather permitting you may catch a glimpse of one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – Mt Kazbegi (5047m). We ride back to the town and drive back to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi hotel.
Day 5: Tbilisi – Sadakhlo Border-Haghpat-Sanahin-Dilijan
After breakfast drive to the Armenian border Sadakhlo. Meeting with Armenian guide and driver. Border formalities, transport and guide change. We will visit the architectural complexes of Haghpat and Sanahin Monasteries (966 AD) which are among the outstanding works of medieval Armenian architecture and are listed in UNESCO World Heritage list. Transfer to Dilijan; Apaga Complex and overnight there.
Day 6: /Riding/ Apaga-Sevansi Khach
Breakfast. Arrival at Apaga resort: a center of active rest. Check in. We will start our trip riding from Apaga complex to Servansi Khach church. The trip starts at the height of 1380m then it goes down to 1230 m till the church. 4 years ago there used to be a hill here, which is said to have been a holy place but nobody knew that there was a church there. A soldier, who was serving at the military near the village Enokavan, started his own researches around this place and soon found out that there is a well preserved church here. The soldier did all this work alone.

We will return to the complex.

Approximately 2 hours riding
Day 7: /Riding/ Apaga-Okon
Breakfast. Exit from the western gate of the Club through the route "Hermit Trail" to the fork Lastiver -Okon. Our further rise will be in the forest to the height of 1324 m. First path passes through the sparse forest with open spaces to the gorge Parvidzor (altitude 1305 m), then through space of climbs and descents. We will then cross the river, which flows through the forest, and will get to a beautiful meadow on the altitude of 1321 m. After all we will reach Okon, which is an old basilica church with an ancient cemetery of cross-stones. In the evening we can go at a gallop.
The total length of this route is about 9000 m.

Approximately 5 hours riding
Day 8: /Riding/ Okon-Harsnakar
Breakfast. The route of the day consists of alternating ups and downs in the meadows and the woods of altitudes 1600 - 1800 m. The main features of the day are the wonderful views: large caves, beautiful mountain stream, and the cool mountains. The location is ideal for picking up herbs. We will pick up three kinds of herbs for evening tea: mint, thyme, and chamomile (you can also take them home). This place is full of many birds, so we will also have the chance of observing eagles, hawks, jays – they are very close, so we can watch and take pictures of them.

Return to Harsnakar.

Day 9: /Riding / Harsnakar-Apaga
Breakfast. We will ride to Apaga complex crossing rocks, mountain meadows, copses.
Late lunch at the Club. Rest...
Overnight at APAGA Club, (B/L/D)
Approximately 4 hours riding.
Day 10: Apaga-Yerevan
Breakfast. Departure from the complex. We will get Yerevan. Lunch in the local restaurant. Free afternoon. Farewell dinner at a national Armenian restaurant with folk show. Overnight at the hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 11: Departure
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport.
